Not exactly the Christmas present I had wanted.

Since I am clearly graceful Santa gifted me with crutches this Christmas. My right hip has always been slightly crappy since my running days and this was no exception. So crutches for me for 4 weeks. Now this all went down in the US so I'm currently stuck here as well, not the easiest to travel here, much less get all the way back to my apartment in Fig.

Normally this would fall under annoying and I'd go about my day. Two things made this more annyoing than needed. First the night before my surgery I opened my glasses case to discover the lens popped out and was not exactly usable. No problem right? I have two back up pairs of glasses.....in my apartment.... in Portugal.

Then a few days ago I realized my auto deduct for rent ended in Decemeber. Now I wasn't worried about it before as I figured I would just set it up once I got back to PT. Since that didn't happen I went to my next and only option, try and set it up online from here in the US. It worked fine until I needed the code sent to my phone to complete the set up. Now my vodaphone used to work in the US but it hasn't the last few times I've been here and again never really worried or cared. But now I cared. A Lot. Since I have nothing else to do (not as if I can even drive right now) I did some digging and discovered my cheap old (3 years old) samsung wasn't equiped for 5G which is all that is in the Chicago area. So I bought a cheap motorola phone that was unlocked, swapped the sim card in and voila! I managed to send my rent and pay my phone bill, because even though my phone bill is supposed to be auto dedcut it never is, again things I had never worried about before. As one of my favorite songs states "It's not what you're sure of, its what you don't know."

Hope everyone had a happy holiday season!
