Beautiful Scenery
This was one of my favorites but aren't they all at this point? I love the mountains so anything that said "Mountain Drive" in it had my interest. Brockway Mountain Drive is an almost 9 mile drive that goes about 720 feet above lake superior with some fantastic views. I would have loved to see the sunset but due to our diabetic dogs shots twice a day we wouldn't be able to make it in time to see that, so we settled for a beautiful afternoon drive. Even my husband like it, the road wasn't gravel! The road was originally constructed through the public works program of the great depression, much like a lot of other sites up here. The goal was to give jobs to the unemployed miners and the building of the road did employ 300 people as the grading and leveling of the surfaces were all done by hand in 1933. Just another great day in the UP!

Our first stop on the way up facing away from Lake Superior

Lake Medora

Meadow Lake

I love the waist height stone walls they use as guardrails.

Made it to the top!

Panoramic view from the top.
