Cooking Class before we started
Cooking Class before we started

I was so excited that our friends had decided to come visit us in Lisbon before we moved to Figueira da Foz, and then I looked at the weather. The entire time they were coming was rain, of course! So I started looking for fun things to do inside, and I came across Homecooking Lisbon. It looked like fun and who doesn't love to eat? So I signed us up.

By the time we got there I was so happy I had decided on doing the class since it was pouring rain out. It was easy to find and bolt took us right there. There were 2 classes at a time and they are small classes only 10 people max. There were 4 of us, a family of 4 from Iceland and single traveler from NYC whom we befriended.

We started cooking the custard for the pastel de nata. They had already made the dough since it requires a lot of time (and resting in the fridge). We still had to shape the dough in the cups and fill them with the custard, then they went into the oven.

Next up Ovos Verde. Which were delicious. Basically a hard boiled egg and then you fried it. It was great, easy, and something I would definitely make again.

For the main course we made Arroz de Feijo, Bacalhau a Bras (a christmas special) and Migas com Entrecosto. Our instructor was amazing and informative and fun. I would 100% recommed the class weather you have friends or family visiting or even by yourself!

Of course no cooking class anywhere, much less Portugal, would be complete without wine and port!

So many options!
