Mackinac Bridge

We finally hit the road with some amazing views this morning crossing the bridge, it is an amazing feat of engineering.

So this morning started a little rough.  It was our travel day and I said I wanted to leave by 7 to get across the bridge and get to the gas station to feed Floppy by 8:30-9 since he’s diabetic and has to eat about the same time every day.

So it’s 7 then 7:30 and we haven't left yet, and the one thing I hate in life is being late. I used to meltdown and ruin the day if we were five minutes late.  Thankfully I’m past that but not leaving until almost 8 tried my resolve not to freak about about timing.

So we get to the gas station I feed the dogs, let them out.  There’s someone parked in front of us at the pump and I told hubby that once they moved it would be our opportunity to leave.  He responded he wasn’t worried and didn’t care. Fine. Whatever. I'm wondering at this point if I can drink while he is driving if I go sit in the bedroom, I mean it's my house right? They car moves so I tell him they are gone. He still putters around getting things ready finally sits down in time to have another car pull in front of him. I told him I didn’t think we would fit around them, he said we would, so I sit down and and strap in for the show. We end up waiting until they leave and as we we pull out and are getting ready to turn left, I told the dog to stop (trying to climb up front in my lap) so hubby decided that “stop” was meant for him (pretty sure it's the only time he’s listened to me).  So hubby starts to complain that he could have turned left but stopped because I told him too.  That he’s driving a big bus and if someone says stop he stops.  After much discussion about this I realize he wants me to be an actual FO (first officer). It wasn’t a hard conclusion to come because he actually said “if my fo said.”  To which I replied if he wanted me to be an fo I could be, but apparently I need years of training to do the job well and did he really want me to be a first officer? To which he replied "No." Lol, just make up your mind already.

Remember packing day? We all have crappy communication days no matter how long we’ve been together or how well we (usually) work together.  Thankfully up here in Michigan there are plenty of good breweries and wineries that make days like this better.

A little creepy going over the bridge when you are this high off the ground
