Miners Castle

We were unfortunately only here for two nights but I hope to come back sometime and spend more time. Our campground was in Christmas Michigan, which was only about 20-30min from Pictured Rocks and was a great base for a few days.

Our one full day there started off overcast and a little rainy but it worked to our advantage to keep people away so for a while we had the place to ourselves!

Our first stop was the visitors center which actually was quite busy despite the weather so I took a pic of the map and skipped out on the first short hike at the visitors center. It worked well skipping the visitors center as we managed to get ahead of the big crowd there.

Our Second stop was a nice stroll on the boardwalk, it was very pretty and we were the only ones there!

Next up was the beach, also pretty empty thanks to the weather, but as you can see it's starting to clear!

I loved this National Park building, it reminds me of the one in Yellowstone.

Next stop was Minors Castle probably the most famous and well know spot in Pictured Rocks. This was for sure the most busy stop and we were lucky to find a parking place which made me glad we had started out early!

Since there were a lot of people hiking up and down the trail to Miners Beach we decided to cheat and drive as I remembered seeing a turn off for it on road we came in on. Glad we did as it wasn't nearly as busy near the beach.

On our way back to the campground we passed a few places that sold Smoked Whitefish Dip so we decided to stop by one and grab some to take with us. We were not disappointed, Cap'n Ron's was the best whitefish dip we have had so far!

Watching the sunset from the boat dock.
A great end to our only full day here, I for sure want to come back and explore more!
